This was my first knife from H.I and I was a bit Leery. What kind of a "custom" made knife could you possibly get for a lousy 215.00 bucks? Have you ever priced a custom knife, LOL?! you can easily drop 500.00 and not even get a top of a Line Knife! I could have gotten a cold steel Kukhri for 185.00 and would have gotten a well made knife . Well, I watched this forum for 5 weeks and did so silently. I did my research and studied up and really thought about what I "wanted" and then what i really "Needed". I needed a Blade that would take the place of a hatchet, be a deadly weapon and a tool for my Bug out bag, Get out of dodge back pack and carry-able where ever when ever. I finally decided on a 18 inch m43 a. I figured , if nothing else, if i got something unworthy i could of used it for a wall decoration or a coffee table "curio".. WELL, it arrived today and I ambushed my mailman and got the jump on him , gave him a signature and literally tore the box open... OMG !!! The 18 inch blade , handle and scabbard are simply flawless! I wish i could post a picture and i will soon but low and behold, It is simply flawless!! I know my "toys" and I could not find One flaw, not one scratch on blade or handle, flawless sheath, Mirror finish and the tools that came with it are perfect! It is SHARP, NOT scalpel sharp but the kind of sharp that will Mow through what ever. Also gang, get ready to eat your hearts out..... ready? .... It has 3. yes 3 pins in the handle !!!! I wanted heavy duty and i got HEAVY DUTY !!!!!.. She aint light and i didnt want light , I can handle her fine.. I have not tested it yet and will soon enough... I will Not need any more bladed weapons, ever. I will go as far as to say, someone out there "might" have one as good but i would bet anything that NOBODY has one better.. you hear that? NO ONE.. I am so impressed and to think 215.00 Dollars. Horn handle, 3pins, HEAVY DUTY !!! I would tell you this, take a leap of "faith" and get the blade you want, Tell the owner what you want. DO NOT BE IN A HURRY and i swear, when that mailman shows up with that box and you tear into it with eyes wide open enough that you could scrape them out with a spoon, you will be crazy glad and in awe of craftsmanship the like of which will no doubt , sometime in the future, be a lost artform... Thank you all who had any part in this process of getting me this piece of Art !
Greg

Sounds like that knife found the right owner. Thanks for sharing the excitement and satisfaction.

I had that exact same amazement when I received my Gelbu Special. Congrats on your khuk!

and they are not just pretty. These things can take a lot of hard work without breaking sweat.

Gongrats on your purchase.

I'm not real clear here. It kind of sounds like he's happy after his skepticism but can someone confirm this for me. I'm sometimes a little slow in the comprehension skills.

Send some pictures to me and I'll try to post em for ya. I'm computer challenged but I think I can figure it out.

Karda, if this sort of thing ain't allowed, let me know, I already got a noose ready out back on the Maple tree and I'll do the right thing.

Congrats, and enjoy your new friend. She'll never tire, nor fail when you need her most.

I'm glad you got the knife you wanted, I love mine and am having to put myself on a limit on how often I can purchase one. Let us know how it performs in the field.

it is a familiar feeling, and very gratifying to see another member of the HI family made.

@OP please read the safety thread!!!! I know you are not new to this, but many of us underestimate how weak the sheath is on the edge side of khukuri and how easy it is for blade to slide out and into you because of the curve when you draw out or put up, be mindful of where you put those fingers!--( this guy cut himself today :D)

Conrgats, Greg. Sounds like it was worth the wait!

And +1 on reading the safety thread. These things can be downright dangerous if you aren't careful!

If you spend 200+ on a blade from HI you can expect it to be a work of art both practically and aesthetically. I'm hoping to order some custom pieces soon. I want one of those kerambits somethin fierce.

same here crystal , I really like the look of the one karda posted a moon or two back, real good lines.(his personal not for sale)

Bawanna, you are fine. I ain't had to hang you by the top end yet.

Greg, Please enable your email in your profile....under settings at the top right of the forum, so that bawanna can shoot you an email and remove it here. Otherwise he will likely get a bunch of spam in his mail.

Bawanna,.... Otherwise he will likely get a bunch of spam in his mail.
Too late! 99 pieces of spam on the way Bawanna! Do you like it fried with wienies or crispy tempura style with Texas hot sauce on the side. Maybe spam confi and wild rice and mixed veggies? Uh might need to empty you mailbox now;)

I can't handle that hot spicy stuff too good anymore, never did really. Call me sensitive I guess.

I'm getting messages that my computer is sick a lot lately. I hope it's just a hoax.

Thank you for sharing, Welcome to the HI and Balde Forum
