To anyone thinking about buying a sharpmaker...

Every knife owner should have one, but if you're buying it as a reprofiling tool...good luck.
 
I really wish the standard SM package came with the diamond rods and medium browns. I don't even use the white rods. I can get my knives to easily push cut news print with just the browns and I don't need any more refinement than that. But the diamond rods are simply indispensable for any type of reprofiling or edge repair.
 
A own a lot of really amazing Spyderco knives, but the Sharpmaker? That's the best Spyderbucks I ever spent!
 
I pair mine with norton basic bench and crystolon stones. I hardly ever need to break out the crystolon but the basic benchstone at $6 gets a ton of use on the 320 grit side!
