To Case or Not to Case

I love the Case CVs, until yesterday they were the only Case knives I have owned. I took a chance and ordered a stainless yesterday however...we will see.

Case is like any company today tat mass produces their products, QC can be spotty at times. As stated earlier this can make online ordering a crapshoot but if you buy from reputable dealers you can always return or exchange.

I bought a Case Sodbuster in CV about a month ago. The fit and finish is very good. No complaints at all. The only other Case knives I have have severed me well but have been retired. Then I got off into more modern knives and haven't been all that pleased with any of them. So I am looking at more traditional knives now.

Case won't always do work on older knives. I have a Case Cheetah that used to be my grandfathers. Its pre 1970 (can't remember exactly when and can't remember where it is at the moment to look up the tang stamp) and needs some help. The lock is screwed up and the blade is so worn that it could use a replacement. I called Case and they told me that they couldn't help. With either issue. According to the rep I spoke with, their tooling has changed, so they are unable to do any work on the knife. Just an FYI. If your older Case knife is a model that went out of production at one point or is hasn't been in production for some time, Case can't help you.

If it is a pattern where the tooling for the blades and backsprings has changed, or a long discontinued model, then you are out of luck to get new blades put in. Sadly, that affects a lot of patterns.

Handles usually should be no problem since they are cut to fit.
