I really enjoyed your post. In my life I have done things that I am ashamed of, and have shaped the way that I live my life now. Some of those things were stupid mistakes, and some were just me being a dumba$$. I am not proud of some of the things that I have done in my life, but I learned from them and am a better person from those lessons. The fact that you branded yourself with a your screen name and now live your life honorably shows you are a better person for the mistakes. The mistakes we make and forget, we are doomed to repeat. Thanks for your post. I doubt the person it was intended for will learn from it, but I am sure some of us will.

It had been my intent to do 'works' helping people, and eventually working off the name, much like the Indian in Charles Bronson's movie, "The White Buffalo." As you remember, this Indian carried the name 'worm' until he completed the necessary tasks.

Further, the name 'Ichabod' is Israeli for "no glory."

I have found that people will like you no matter what your name is, and there's always more work to do. This matter here was just telling my plight to Mr. Swenson and hoping a "do as I say, not as I live" story might enhance his path.

I'm sure many forumites here could do the same work if asked.
 
Ichabod, your honesty and humility are an inspiration to me in my time of low spirits and negativity. Currently I just can't find the motivation to continue with my studies, even though my parents have provided me with pretty much anything I will need as a student. At times, I've wondered to myself, "How bad could a life of crime be?" This kind of thinking is contrary to my personal goal of making a positive difference in the world.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and know that you're doing tons of good.

Regarding the troll stuff, I hope we can all learn to keep our temper on a leash. There's really not much positive coming out of a name-calling match, and contributing to that is not going to make the troll stop.
