Grab it! Well I think it looks good but wait for the pros to tell you for sure. Looke like a perfect match for a kmg though
 
Non-enclosed motor. Too much dust go in, let smoke out.

Have to be careful about the dust thing. Pity the motor label isn't more legible, too.

Might be worth it for awhile. A good 2HP DC VS name brand will run you over a grand, and the "KMG" AC VFD VS will be over $800.
 
For that low price, I would buy it and put an duct and cooling fan on it so grit won't bother it.
 
thats a tredmill motor and if you dont beleve me ill show you a pic of the same motor i pulled from a tredmill but its 2.5hp. tredmill motors are way over rated in the HP catogory. i would say around %50 of stated hp is what it puts out. trust me this motor is not what you want. it is open but the biger problem is that it has magnets inside and it will just suck the steel dust inside and stick to the magnets. get a TEFC motor. mine is a baldor TEFC water proof wash down motor rated at 1.5-2 HP :D.
 
also the shaft is a funny size i beleve with a thred end. i payed $100 for mine and worth every penny as the motor new is around $700. keep your eyes open. one more thing is that tredmill motors run around 3500 rpm
