to Guyon....Hogtinni recipe WV part Deux

Muahahaha! I knew I sensed trout in them thar streams.

--BubbaThud

Hey, I didn't say they *weren't* there... just that he had to be up high if there are many. I'm sure some trout manage to survive year round in odd places in Tennessee, but most of the stocked trout will die off in the summer months if they aren't caught.

Tony G doesn't get that those tiny trout I catch every year is actually a humane service. :p

As for the question of vermouth, here's what I do lately.

About 3 oz. of chilled vodka
A dollop of vermouth. I use the bottle cap to measure. About the time I start to dribble a little out, I stop. :p
About the same amount of olive brine.
I jam two garlic-stuffed olives on a toothpick and use them to stir the whole thing together.

In other words, measuring takes too damn much time!!! :D

I am on the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River that comes out of Snowshoe. ITs a ski resort close to 5000 ft. I am around 3000 ft which is about as low as you can go for natives.

Its a world class brook trout fishery, and is stockedfrom trains by the state. It holds rainbows, brooks, and goldens.

about 15 miles up stream is where Ford auto showed old pics in their ads of Truman and Mr Ford going fishing back in the day.

Its surrounded by 3-4 National Parks, Wilderness areas etc. It is year end year out has the highest harvest ratios of Deer, bear, and turkey for the whole state of WV.

For years the mountain highlands were Native Indian hunting grounds:thumbup:

Shavers Fork of the Cheat rocks.

We started last summer up High Falls Trail and dropped over Shavers Mt. To the High Falls of the Cheat. We camped there that night the next morning we hiked back up Shavers Mt, hiked along the top going south and camped about 2 miles north of Johns Camp Shelter. The next day we hiked on out the Allegheny Trail to Gaudineer then back down hill along Braucher run and camped where Braucher Run joins the west fork of the Greenbrier. Then the next day we walked 14 miles on the West Fork Trail back to our truck. 34 miles in all we were TIRED. Beautiful area though. First time I'd been on Shavers Fk or that part of Shavers Mt.

If those trout were any younger I'd think you were a priest.

If I were a priest, I'd be the oddball who is more into beaver than trout. :D

Some good martini pics here. Some more...

What? No left turn in Albuquerque? :p

Good point on the Vermouth Tony... WAY TOO MUCH. I was concentrating too hard on removing the Olive Juice. :p

The bottle of Vodka and the bottle of Vermouth should be formally introduced to each other from a distance of approximately 2 feet. Then the Vodka (chilled in the freezer) should be poured over 3 to 4 olives. After the first one, all INFI should be put away as something bad will occur if the INFI is left out. Involutary amputations and such... :p

I don't actually drink all those martinis. I just use them for the photo shoot and then pour them out. ;)
