Hello everyone. I'm a newbie and I have a newbie question
I am making knives from old lawn mower blades I picked up from a local repair shop. I am only doing the stock removal method, no forging. Do I still need to heat-treat these knives being that they are being made from steel that is already treated? Also, I know that there is endless information sources out there for heat treating, but can someone please recommend a source for a simple heat treating process for new knife-makers, as most of the books I have read get rather complex? I'm not looking to sell my knives, I just love working on them; but I do want them to be of a good quality (temper wise), so I can use them.
Thanks!
