To HELL and Back - Beaten CRK pics.

I just got my large sebenza (micarta inlay) today. I can't say enought about this knife, i absolutely love it. I'll be testing it later this week as a bushcraft folder. Making fuzz sticks, batoning, and sparking a flint with it. Also any food chores. I'll be borrowing my friends camera and will post pics. I promise to take it to hell and back. ( without abusing it to bad lol)

I'm going to bump this. Beaten Regular all Ti sebenzas are the coolest looking I think. I hope to have my small micarta looking gnarly one day. NukeNB, nice picture! What kind of material is that lanyard? I like the colors, nice contrast on the sebenza!

Leather. I've removed it since the photo - to keep a lower profile while at work. (darn it!)

My Sebenza is only a couple months old and it already seen some wear & tear. Somehow it picked up a few scratches on the scales, and I then had to do some re-profiling on the blade after I put some major nicks in the edge (call it either bad luck or just plain stupidity).

I tend to be pretty careful & meticulous when it comes to knives and flashlights - the tiniest scratch or blemish just makes me sick - and if someone had told me a few months ago that my brand new $300 knife would get beat up this fast I would have been suicidal. But somehow a little wear & tear just gives the Sebenza more character. I can't imagine ever saying that about any other $300 knife.

I can go along with everything except sparking a flint, GADS! I must be too anal with mine!

Well, i tried and failed. The sebenza is not the tool for sparking a flint. I guess i could of used the edge, but its not broke in enough for that yet. All other tasks went great and i was really impressed. I'll do it again with pictures if i can ever get a camera.

I assume that by 'flint' you mean 'ferrocium rods'. For sparking these, carry a broken jigsaw blade, or even an inexpensive SAK. A Sebenza is without question the wrong tool for that job -- all the edges except for the blade are too rounded.

By the way, the false edge on a Mountaineer II works like a charm with ferro rods.

If you mean an actual, real chunk of flint, I think you need high carbon steel to spark those. So, again, the sebbie will be the wrong tool.

The ridges/serrations on the thumb rest work good on a firesteel! :)

Updated pic of my 1 out of +/- 130 flat-ground BG-42 large regular Sebbies ;)

Very nice Ted, I think I remember when you posted that when it was new. A few years ago of course :D

I almost bought one that year. Live and learn I guess.
