to keep or not to keep, that is the question.

Olamic would have a place in my heart...maybe...IF the damned thing didn't have that silly hollow flipper tab hanging off of it... I want to slice an apple and chop some minor veggies, whatever, with my carry knife, and if it cannot do that, then the heck with it.
p.s. My Sebbie does that just fine, and has for years and years...

I have a few categories that I like to have filled with the best knife/knives I have access to. When I get a new knife that fills one of those categories better than what I previously had, it's usually an indication I won't appreciate the older knife as much and subsequently will likely sell it. I'll give a few examples:

Category: work EDC
Requirements: can take abuse, not expensive, won't miss it if lost/stolen, cuts well.
Current work EDCs: D2 Steel Will Modus, Rat 2, Para 3

Category: classy knife
Requirements: appearance, good/great action, smallish size
Current classy knives: Millet Torrent, NeOn lite, valet
Knives that have been sold: neon clones, boos hound

Category: casual EDC
Requirements: cuts well, looks good, good action, not fancy enough to be afraid to use
Currenty casual EDCs: 781 Anthem, M390 para 3 w/ cf, TM1, 154cm/cf leek
Knives that haven't been used lately and might get sold: Kizer Sealion, Delica 4, Spyderco Sliverax

Ok, we are all knife nuts in one way or another.
Some of us are more addicted than others, but we all have that addiction in some form, haha.

For those that buy knives to try out, or fondle, or see if you like it, what are your deciding factors on whether to keep said knife or move it to try another one? Its a question and dilemma I face with every knife I buy, lol

I just got a new in package Olamic in the mail today from a black friday sale, and damn this thing is sweet. Now its on to more stages of knife addition.

stage one was the shopping for said knife,
stage two was buying said knife.
stage three and four were waiting for said knife (takes two steps because i hate waiting).
stage five is opening the knife
stage six is cleaning up the drool
stage seven is fondling the knife
stage eight is to decide to keep it or not (this stage sometimes can last years)

Just finished stage six, now its time to fondle/admire and decide to keep or not. lol
By the way, isnt it great when a knife arrives and it looks even better than it did online?

I should prob add pictures, pictures are neat.

I just do not have a "stage 8" .

:) Once I receive , inspect , and accept a knife as functional and up to spec ...that's it , it's MINE until death do us part . Or so it seems . o_O
