To lanyard or not to lanyard... that is the question

I do like lanyard pulls on knives I can put them on.
Here's a 49'ers lanyard I've got on my vic recruit

Based on the last thread about the same subject I have been awaiting the inevitable lanyard vs. fob post. It took longer than I expected. ;)
We must fiercely maintain our proper definitions, lest the English language collapse on itself.

Eald English is the riht English. We must protect the language or in old English: attraction with pron ðe ic must ealgian duguð word−cwide.:D

Thanks Gary. Vinifera ya getting all Beowulfy on me. I tried to read it once that way. Didn't work so well for me.

Horsewright Those are superb knives, especially like the first one with its long handle, that could also be a tough work-knife with more basic handle materials too. What a looker!

As for reading Beowulf in the original, nobody can unless they learn Anglo-Saxon first, it bears scant resemblance to even Medieval English used by Chaucer in Canterbury Tales still less to Englishes of the last 200 years. Anglo-Saxon even has different letters in its alphabet....

Lanyard, Fob? Fob? I thought that was something hung from a watch-chain by way of ornament.:D:D

Even if I'm not a fan of bails or even lanyard holes, there are some beautiful examples of lanyard work in this thread, very creative.

Thank you sir. Had a copy once, had Modern English on the left page and the original on the right page all the way through the book. Left side worked for me the right side not so much.

Here's another Sonoran Belt Knife from the same batch. Sheephorn handle this time with blue liners. This was the first one I ever hollow ground, just to do something different.

And just to toss more vocabulary out there I call em thongs, not lanyards or fobs.

I haven’t actually put a fob like this on an SAK before, but I’ve been carrying the blue 2015 Limited Edition Pioneer a bit lately, and I just got the “Berry Red” 2018 in the mail, so I thought I’d try it out. (I actually had to dig the little keyring out of the box for the 2015, because I had ditched it immediately when I first got it — glad I still had it!)

Thanks to Mike (@Crazy Canuck) for the silver Pioneer X, which I won in his Mystery GAW earlier this year. I haven’t carried it much yet, but it’s been sitting on my desk since I got it and I’ve used it often.

I’d been meaning to add one to the Maserin Plow, so I also took care of that while I was at it.
