So I was looking for a good sledge. Also wanted a wrecking bar. So this is what I found. http://www.stanleytools.com/default...tanley®+Fubar™+Forcible+Entry+Tool I was considering replacing the handles with micarta maybe stripping and refinishing. Though outside of handles and finish I cant think of anything. Its purpose will be a wrecking sledge, I'll call it my "Wrecking Hammer" as fubar seams kinda silly. Thinking about adding a carbide cone or spike to the top, just a hard point.

well the name for the tool is silly. i know what it means but it dosent really go with the tool, though i guess whatever you go after with it will be fubar when you're done......i dont know i may keep the name........maybe i'll name it fubarski and it then it can call me tinmanski i dont know.

yeah those are pretty cool. but i like the sledge part of this, i really needed a sledge thats how i tripped on this. i kinda like its simplistic design, i may not change a thing i just thought i would poll you guys cuz this forum loves to mod.

MOD IT.

I picked up the medium one. I sanded it and applied a tan engine-enamel made by Plasticote. GOOD stuff. I then coated the rubber handle with truckbed liner.

Now I just need a way to mount it underneath the trunk of my car...

well i think i'm gonna replace the reflective tape with skateboard tape. the handles really dont need to be changed though micarta would be cooler. think i'll go with black engine enamel, make it easier to make other mods "pop". wonder if i can come accross someone that could powdercoat it instead.......will post some pics when i actually get some work done to it. wish me luck i have a few ideas.

so i started to remove the handles so I could refinish the "wrecking hammer" and one bolt stripped. it seams there was some red locktite or superglue on them? anyways i called stanley and i had sent them an email a day before and they said "are you (my name)" i said yes how did you know, they said "well we are working on your email, we've never had anyone need replacement bolts" So, so far stanley customer service is like 8 of 10 lets see if they can get me new bolts :p

I finished the handle mods (will post pics tommorow) But while removing the handles I found the (chicago nuts?) were kinda cheap and stripped so two got drilled out, waiting to hear back from stanley on that. However wondering if anyone has suggestions (with links) to attach the handles or know of somewhere I can send a screw and have a few manufactored.
Now on to the finish, I want to parkerize or powder coat it but again I'm having trouble finding anyone local who can do it, anyone know someone that can parkerize or powder coat in middle georgia? or have suggestions (with links) on a flat black coating that can take the heat and take abuse (this will be a user) My current plan is to strip this silver stuff and make sand blast or grind out pits then put flat black Krylon grill paint coats on till I'm happy with it.

Well I'm happy to report Stanley has come through, they are sending me some new screws, more to follow when I receive them but Stanley customer service is above and beyond so far.
Also I have found someone to do the finishing work at a fair price to boot. They will be bead blasting it (glass beads I believe) then they will apply parkerization, followed by matte black duracoat.
Here are the handles, pretty much done with handles, just wanted grip and no reflection.

Wow!! Great job on that grip tape!! It looks like cutting all those notches in the grip tape would have been real tedious, but it was time well spent, they look awesome.

Mod it up! Check out the Dead On Annihilator, too. It caught my eye in Home depot and followed me home.

I need the help of the modding community. I want to put a Black diamond (or similar quality) Daisy chain. In black or dark gray. Problem is, I can't find a dealer that can promise me one of those colors. If anyone lives near a well supplied mountain climbing store that frequents it or passes by and is willing to help me out please pm me. I've been to all the REI's in atlanta and they have none in stock, or purple ones.

stanley came through

although I only asked for screws  not to mention these screws have obviously been used, thus I believe they removed them from a perfectly good fubar :( wish they had just sent me a whole new fubar now

That's a pretty cool tool. I think you're already in the process but I would definitely replace the scales with micarta if you're able. Be sure to post after pics.
