Hello Guys,

OK, this is killing me. I love my TGLB... I used it, beat on it, stripped it, used it and beat it some more... and now it's back at Busse Combat for edge restoration and... maybe... making it into a clip point. Should I??? Would you??? Why/ why not? I love clip points and I love my TGLB... I'm so conflicted. The clip point I had in mind was the one shown as #7 on the Custom Shop page/ blade ideas.

Please help me... sage advice, constructive criticism, harsh language... whatever.

Thanks guys.

If it'll make you like it better, modify!

I've only had one Busse come through my hands--a Game Warden--and the first thing I did was strip the coating, thin out the edge and behind it, and make the point "stabbier."
As I'm more of a big fixed blade kind of guy, I passed it on to my dad, where it gets occasional use for dressing out geese and ducks (good use for a Game Warden :) ).

Made it more useful with mods.
As long as you think you can do it, or are willing to deal with hideous ugliness if it doesn't work out, go for it.

Thanks Stabman--I'd actually have the good folks at Busse do it. I am leaning in the direction of the mod... but... I'm still not altogether certain it's the right move.

You mean a bit like the one at the top of this picture?

I got mine custom modified by the Shop to my design. It's a trade off though - it'll make a bit more stabby, but reduce some of the tip strength. I have a Skinny Ash with a very thick tip, so thatt's what I'd use if I wanted to pry a door off with a medium-sized knife. If your TGLB is your go-to beater, you might want to leave a bit more meat at the tip.

Ah, in that case it come down entirely to preference.
Take your time deciding; till it's done, you have two knives including the virtual one (Schrodinger's Knife? :D).

Thanks so much! The visual helps--and yes, so far more steel at the tip matters, but I do like the looks of that clip point.

Yeah, I'm a little reluctant to pull the trigger on the mod...

If you modify and don't like it you can always buy a new one, or even sell the modified one at a discount and buy a new one, if it makes you happy , go for it

Thanks Rolf--I'll likely go with the mod. Brummie--did the mod improve the balance of the knife, or effect it in some other way? Thanks guys.

Thanks MikeyNYC--good point. Wow, that pun just jumped out at me--sorry. By the way--I miss NYC... It was my home for 25 years.

It didn't make a big difference to the balance. It balances on the guard, which I think is a pretty good compromise for a knife like this.

Thanks Brummie, I suspected as much. Yep--pics will be posted upon the blade's return to me.

Yeah--but I hope to get it back before the end of the month--lots of great outdoors adventures coming in June!

I wouldn't count on that, the Shop is probably crazy now, getting ready for Blade.
