Just finished this recurve fighter and was thinking of putting a pin in it or not what do you think? Hard to copy the look of the WI in a pin. I have Nickel silver pins and Stainless. any opinions welcome.

It looks great!

I think that a very small domed pin about a third of the way down the handle would look nice, too.

I'll tell you what, that whole package is so sweet lookin' just like it is, it's almost a shame to break it up!
You could certainly go with way.
Don't jump to any quick decisions on this one.
Let it grow on you for a while.
You can always put one in.
Once you put it in, it's there forever.
Excellent job on this knife.

Normally, I would always say "pin it", but it does look pretty cool the way it is. I second Karl's opinion.

Very nice looking knife. I'm leaning towards one small pin but it would look totally awsome either way. Great job!

Amen! I'd leave it.

If you decide to pin it, I'd suggest a mild steel pin. Then, dab a little clear nailpolish on the wood around the pin (making a little dam), etch with a drop of ferric chloride, and wash away the nail polish with a little acetone.

Thats why I posted I have to be in Little Rock in about 6 hours! Just wanted to see what the reaction of the makers would be If I didnt put one in, or if I decided to and still have time.

That thing is beautiful right now....but I could see a pin adding a little elegance.
Is that blade acid etched/mustard finished/blued.....really nice work

I think it looks really good if you leave it the way it is, but if you choose to pin it, I would think that a small steel pin (not stainless) and then antiqued to match the guard would look really nice.

This is incredibly beautiful as is. A pin, even antiqued would degrade the elegant look IMO. The handle looks as comfortable as a feather pillow...

Leave it alone. I repeat, step away from the knife :) Super nice and clean. Pinning would definitely degrade the look. In the future, you may think a little alternative and use a like or complimenting color of wood for the pin.

Rusty, I'd leave it the way it is, but when people tell me certain pins in slippie handles are redundant I tell them the next time they're on a commercial airliner flying coach and looking out at the rivits in the wing at 35,00 feet ---then tell me too many pins or rivits are redundant. LOL.

That's a great tip! I've been beating my head against the wall tryin to figure
out how to blue mild steel pins without staining the surrounding wood. You rule as always, fitzo.

Here's what it would look like with various color pins. the etched/blued mild steel would be the best/least visible.

The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced... it's just fine as it is. Thanks for your post, 69-knives :)
