To Rucki, or not to Rucki?

I am going to be a dissenter here… :D I was lucky enough to handle a Rucki and Wacki side by side HERE (that is the big issue of course) and up till that point I was very much lusting after the Rucki. I am not a sword guy by any stretch of the imagination (think Indiana Jones and that scene with the sword v pistol ;) ) anyway… I found the Wacki lit my pilot light MUCH more than the Rucki which *I* Found to be neither Arthur or Martha … not long after I stumbled on a Wacki for sale here and it really has become a favourite…. :D :D

My $.02

I didn't like how the waki handled. It didn't have quite the feel that I was hoping for. I love the way the Rucki handles, and i love the AK47, but the waki is not great by comparison

Just my opinion.

awesome pics Elof, thanks! what color handle is that?

So for practicality the 1311 seems to be better for chopping wood, is it just better overall? will it cut better, handle better, etc? I am usually one who prefers practicality over all else but I will say the Rucki is just awesome looking, but if it isn't feasible to really use out there then it wouldn't be worth it.

The handle color is Green & Black G-10, which IMO looks great on a black coated Rucki. Elof, that Rucki looks real familiar but I can't remember where I've seen it before......;)

The 1311 will definitely be more practical vs. the Rucki. It will most definitely chop better as it is weighted more like a cleaver, with most of its weight along the length of the blade. The Rucki has it's weight distributed pretty evenly along it's entire length, which makes it neutrally balanced.

Also, the Rucki weighs significantly more than the 1311 which is a definite negative for carrying it. Basically the 1311 will handle much like a short machete whereas the Rucki will handle like short sword. I don't think there's anybody that will argue that a short machete should have more overall utility vs a short sword. At least that's IMO, anyways.....:)

I'd say it boils down to size and weight. I have used 1311 because I can throw it in my pack to get to relative wilderness where it can be used. Rucki is too big for that.

Now, if that wasn't a case... With a lanyard at the bottom you can hold it one handed at the very end which will give you another 6" of reach. It's pretty well balanced so using a Ruck for some detail work should not be a very big problem, just might be awkward with the handle length.

elof_alv... did you ever mention to me your Rucki was the same colour combo as my wacki...??? :D

I did... And you said yours was bigger than mine... :D
Yup, we can work something out... ;)

Someone has posted a 1311 for sale that comes with a Kydex Sheathe for $361 shipped, is that a good price?

Okay, so here's the way i look at these two blades

If i was going to be in the woods, i'd choose the 1311 EVERY TIME. There's no comparison of the utility between the two. The 1311 is a better chopper, easier on the hand for long use, and it is MUCH better for wood processing

If I was going into combat, the Ricki is a much better backup for that. It's pointy enough to penetrate soft body armor, and it's certainly much better designed as a fighting weapon

For the proverbial zombie apocalypse, you'll be well geared with either one, but again, the 1311 comes out on top. It's general utility is undeniable, and i know i could easily remove a human arm or leg with no problem. It's a real beast.

* ETA: The rucki is perfectly usable as an outdoor/survival tool. It is great for hacking underbrush and usable for other woods uses... the 1311 is just better in that regard

I own both... you should too :)

You can get new sheath for $55 from Azwelke, I've seen 1311 on exchange for as low as $215...

To Rucki or not to Rucki, RUCKI Bro!!! I have had AK, Rucks, Waki's and Rucki's. The RUCKI is just as tuff and the cool thing is it's a perfect size package.:cool: I like the RUCKI better as to me it has thicker handle slabs and is just frankly comfortable in the hand.
