Sal,

It is my understanding that the Caly3 is one of your designs. I got my Caly3 CF with ZDP-189 last week. I must say, I am impressed. The design is excellent. It falls into my hand like it was custom made for me, both choked up into the choil and thumb ramp as well as behind the choil. Reverse grip is great too. Wow, what a slicer! The full flat grind, edge angle and the ZDP-189 make for some great cutting performance ( and I look forward to sharpening less often). The way the thumb ramp recurves back into the blade spine...nice. 13mm opening hole, just right. Little relief/cutouts in the liners behind the pivot, excellent. Weight/balance...optimal. Lockup is superb, opening/closing action is smooth and solid. Spring rate on the lock is just right IMHO.

I've been buying knives for a *long* time and have owned more that I care to talk about :) but I don't often acquire one that I have little or nothing that I would change once I get it and even less often do I get the opportunity to compliment the designer.

So, Sal, let me say unto you...Good job sir! The Caly 3CF is as close to EDC nirvana as I have been in a very long time.

The CF/ZDP Caly 3 was my favorite release of the year (from any company) when it came out, and it remains my favorite Spyderco. Now I just need to finally getting around to buying one! I convinced the owner of the shop I work at to get one for herself, though. She wanted to trade up from her stainless SE Dragonfly. ;)

In about an hour I'll be heading down to the shop to place our beginning-of-the-season order (we're seasonal), and you can count on a lot of Spyderco being on the list...as always! :)

I liked the Caly 3 so much, that I bought 3 of them. Other than the CF Stretch, it is there second best knife!!

My Caly 3 CF is my second favorite Spyderco to my Superhawk. From the factory my Caly 3 CF came with a .012" thick edge at 9.5 degrees per side, which is by far the best factory geometry I have seen on a knife of it's type. Spyderco is certainly serious about high performance cutting to be putting out knives with such fantastic factory geometry. The fit and finish and smoothness are icing on the cake.

My Caly 3 is always with me it lives in my back pocket held in with that elegant deep carry wire clip. I don`t who designed that clip but it is a gem of simplicity in design IMHO.

this is by FAR my favorite knife. infact, I like it so much that I sold my small sebenza. on top of that I plan on selling my spyderco rookie and probably my D2 paramilitary. that is how much i like this knife. at this time it is really all that i need. great blade, extremely sharp(especially after i took it to my ultra fine rods on the sharpmaker), looks classy, and the deep pocket carry is a big plus for me. for an EDC i don't think that I could ask for anything more. this is all just my opinion, but I absolutely love this knife.
