To Seal Or Not To Seal (patinaed copper pins on green bone handles)

Hey Everyone, This is my first post, and my first knife.

Well technically it is just my first handle. I bought the little boot knife blade from Texas Knifemaker.

So, for my predicament. I'm a real dummy. The blade is stainless steel, near mirror finish, and I fastened jigged green bone scales to it with COPPER pins! It just doesn't look right. I don't know why I didn't just use steel rod instead.

So in order to make it look better, I carefully put a patina on all the copper pins with a tiffany green formula. I think it looks pretty good actually, but I was wondering if I should seal it or not.

I know the bone was sealed already when it was dyed, but I'm worried the patina will rub off in short time with use of the owner.

To seal or not to seal? If so, what should I use?

Thoughts?

I would not seal it, plus anything you "paint" onto it will wear off any way. Plus copper wants to patina, especially when exposed to skin. Let's see a picture of this knife you handled.

Just leave it shiny ... it will turn dark soon. Using it will speed the process.

Cool, thanks for the advice. The patina formula left some cool bits of green in there.
I'll have to see if there's a way to upload a picture without a URL.

^this... let the copper age a bit and you may find it looks a lot better to you. i for one am always a fan of copper so maybe i'm biased
