New knife enthusiast here that has been reading these forums for quite some time, just have never interacted much. sort of an introvert i guess. haha
I have started out slow and picked up inexpensive stuff like my SRM stuff, Dozier and Zancudo when I could and watched the addiction grow.
I wanted to get cheap stuff to see what I liked and make sure I could carry a knife without losing it. lol
That little SRM made me realize I need to buy a CRK, which I will eventually own.
Im not particular, I just like blades. haha Folders, Fixed, Traditional's, whatever, I like them all.

I recently had the pleasure of buying a good ol USA made Sharpfinger 152UH from an awesome forum member here.
I have always liked the sharpfinger blade, just never thought to get one until I saw the FS thread and impulse took over.

So yeah, its unused and hasnt been carried or sharpened.
Do I keep it that way and just look at it or do I make it my new deer and elk field knife?

Anyways, just wanted to say hi and become part of the forum rather than just a reader, and I know everyone here likes pics and I wanted to post one and show off my first real knife not made overseas by the gazillion by some unknown name.
Im stoked to have this blade, thats for sure.

Were it me, I'd use the crap outta it. Great blade, meant to be used. I value collectors (people) and what they contribute to the knife world, but I'm a user. Enjoy that thing!

Whatever makes you feel best. It appears you want to use it - then I would. ;)

Welcome to the porch - it is a great place.

Personally I'd use it, especially if you are a hunter. That's exactly what that kind of knife was made for.

I agree with doing what makes you feel best. The bad news is, most people aren't going to use one in such prime condition. But, maybe you are not most people.

At least use it long enough to see if it is a good purchase and it definitely is. Knifes sitting in the safe need to go to work. Get use out of em. You want to keep the knife gods happy don't you?

The sawcut delrin handled ones can be had for around $30 or even less on the secondary markets. If you like the fancy one so much, get a user and keep the nice one nice. You can always sell the user for close to what you paid for it if you don't like the way it works.

Skin a buck, cut a trout line, sharpen a pencil, filet a catfish, and smile like there is no tomorrow! Welcome aboard, Morvlorv.

The only thing I would add is, that is a stainless blade. Some people may like the carbon blades better. If you're a carbon steel kind of guy, then you may want to keep this one unused and get a regular 152, which in most cases will be carbon (generally, the absence of a + means carbon on schrades, but that is not always the case.)

However, schrade stainless is also decent stuff. Ultimately, the choice is yours.

BTW, nice knife!

If it has a sentimental type attachment, or you're purchasing a knife with the intention of keeping it for collection purposes, or perhaps to flip later down the road banking on the price going up, then I'd say go ahead store it away.

But otherwise, I use them. That's the fun part. :)

If you have second thoughts about using this particular one, pick up another used one in more used condition. They aren't real expensive. There are so many USA Schrades around, that I don't particularly worry about collector issue with them. I probably saw a dozen of them at a show in March.

Only you can decide whether to use it or not. "What makes you feel better" is the right answer.
Yet, as Brad said, the collector value is low, it's not a rare knife at all, so you might have less reasons to hesitate and more reasons to use it.
As for the other options (get a delrin handled, carbon steel one) maybe it could be a nice "first approach" to the pattern if you're still not sure.
Welcome aboard :)

Personally, I use all my knives. I guess if it was a highly collectible item that may appreciate in value over time, I'd save it but I own nothing of that value. Its truly personal preference.

If you do decide to use it (fine looking knife) you will find that the stainless steel works excellently in skinning and cutting up a deer - been using Buck's with SS blades for decades - the Schrade+ USA UH stainless steel is very good too. OH

I'm not really a fixed blade kind of guy, but that's a good-looking knife!

This seems like excellent advice.
