to use or not to use.... that is the question

thanks guys! this is a great place.

With any luck, this thing will be skinning an Buck and an Elk this year. :)
ill update here in a couple months if that happens. hah

If you do decide to use it (fine looking knife) you will find that the stainless steel works excellently in skinning and cutting up a deer - been using Buck's with SS blades for decades - the Schrade+ USA UH stainless steel is very good too. OH

Is this the type of blade that can get through a deer without needing a sharpening?

I guess it depends on what you cut when you are skinning and de-boning. I can clean several deer without needing any time on the stones - I do touch up all my blades on ceramic sticks once cleaned after skinning/cutting up a deer (around here 100-125 lbs. is typical "meat deer", 200 lbs. is a monster). My stainless steel Bucks include various models made with 440C, 425M, and 420HC. OH

I've used mine on a deer without having to stop and sharpen. No elk down here in Louisiana, so I don't know if I could skin an elk with it, but I have bigger knives to use if an elk strays down here and they have a season on it. Don't think that's going to happen, but I've got an elk capable rifle just in case.
