I'm slow to start carrying really nice knives but I either trade them off or sell them before I keep them as a safe queen. I often save some to trade or sell later for a while but they either start getting carried or I get rid of them for something else sooner than later.
I just started carrying my new Umnumzaan the other day and it feels great! It's in my pocket right now.
As I've said before, I had up to 90 really nice knives at one time and not one of them was worth the time holding on to them money-wise. I don't think I ever sold a knife for more than $50 over what I paid but is that worth saving the knife for a year or more? Most of the time my sales were even or a minor loss.
And with really nice knives, you can carry them and use them lightly and still get back 80% or more of what you paid if you decide it's not for you.
Use them or get something else Once I stick one in my pocket for the first time, the pain disappears quickly
Go for it. Use that blade. IMHO, I look at all my blades as being in 3 categories: 1] Useful -- so go ahead, 0r 2] Art work/Investment -- Shelve it, 3] Keep temporarily without use for trades. So far, I don't have anything yet in category 2.
