Most of you will probably remember when I wrapped my Dumpster Mutt to make the knife more visible, it looked like this...

I then finished up removing the cord for the very reason I applied it, I found it was attracting more sheeple attention as it now stood out !!!

Anyway once I removed it the handle just did not feel right so I have finished up re-wrapping it but this time with dark green para-cord, it now feels great again !
Here are two pics of it alongside pitdog Jr's Mora ( also with a wrapped handle ).....

Looks good. I used to have a Howling Rat, and I wrapped the handle with 550 cord like that. I liked the feel.

I just don't wrap --- it feels funny to me. Just my opinion

i am not much on cord wrapped handles either if needed i will wrap on sheath, but the handle wrapped in cord feels akward but each his own, knife looks good, i do like the green better than the orange.:D

that is a cool looking knife...:D

i like the idea of having p-cord readily available, but i don't think i would wrap the handle... i have wrapped it around the sheath on a number of occasions....

in terms of visibility, i think i would use some of that blaze orange and just have it going through the lanyard hole.....

I wrapped my Mutt and Res-C HR because I found the handles to be too small for my hands.

pitdog, what do you think of the Dumpster Mutt as a performer?

Iv'e made some feather sticks and batonned through some wood with it and it handled both tasks great.
I would say that for 99% of the time it is possibly overkill but I wanted a knife that I could rely on 100% in a survival scenario and I have no doubts at all in this knife !

Ah...your cord wrap job is prettier than mine... The cord wrap really helps absorb alot of the impact on a big chopper like my Khukuri...

I've been complaining about the metal handle on my Mountaineer II. I do believe I'll have to try wrapping it to so if it helps at all.

I think a cord wrapped handle looks interesting, provides you with a supply of cord to use in a pinch, and might be useful if your hand and your knife are wet. But I also think it would rub blisters on your hand with heavy use. Not trying to burst anyone's bubble here, but I just prefer a reasonably smooth handle on my knives and tomahawks. To each his own...

I don't think I would have wrapped it if it wasn't for the fact that the handle on the Mutt seems a little on the small size, it just feels a lot better now !

I wrapped a busse gamewarden with 550 because the handle is a bit small, but decided to take it off because the handle is not grippy enough to prevent it from unraveling, and my primary use for this knife is hunting, and getting blood and guts on the wrap would require rewrapping often. I also wrapped a surefire flashlight in 550 and love that. The knurling is grippy enough that the wrap stays where I put it, and the wrap insulates the cold metal handle here in the North East.

Yeah the orange looked kinda neat I must admit ! I think it looks pretty good on my sons mora as well, do you have any pics of yours ?
