Today was a bad day--Had to have our dog put down

Sorry to hear about your friend yiterp. It helped me after I had to put down my friend a couple years back , when I pictured her running thru fields playing with other dogs.
Mans best friend , Indeed. :)

Yiterp,
Perhaps this is not the best time to broach this, but I have today come across a lady who's fostering a one year old American Staffordshire Terrier that was neglected. She can't keep him because she already has one, but she won't give him up to a shelter especially a kill shelter. Would you like me to explore this one further for you? No matter what, I will be taking a very active part in finding a new home for this guy, but knowing how you would cherish your dog makes me feel someone like you is a better bet.

MelancholyMutt,
that is a very kind jesture and i want to thank you for it.but me my wife and son have decided to go to the local pound in our area and pick out a dog.we will be doing this as soon as i have the extra money for the fees they charge--we had to pay right at 200.00 when cassie was put down and cremated.the ashes came back to us in a nice container with her mame on the front.have found a special place on my computer table for these to rest.sorta makes me smile to look at her name on the container and remember all the good times we had with with the old girl.

I am truely sorry for your loss!! That is so very hard!! I am glad that someone posted the Rainbow Bridge, as that helped to make me feel better.

I had to give up a stray I took in... had 2 dogs at the time & the new guy wasn't getting a fair shake. Worked through an organization called 'People for Animals'. Their adoption fee was $90. I told them I'd pay the $90 if a prospective family didn't have the money. "NO! We charge them the $90 & make them fill in all the paperwork so they don't take the pet home & turn it loose if they lose interest in it's caring." Good idea!
