Living in Western Pa certainly has it's perks for the traditional knife nut. Great Eastern, Queen and Case are all just a couple hours away. And once a year GEC comes to Pittsburgh. Yay!
This year Bob Andrews from Old Hundred Collectibles was manning the table for the first three days of the show. (I met Bob a year or so ago at a local gunshow where he setup.) So I decided to go see Bob to hang out, talk knives and of course check out all the new GEC offerings. I have been particularly eager to see the 09 Esquire. I also had another knife that needed some minor work to drop off.
Upon arriving at the show I was immediately put to work for no pay and expected to sell at least 700 knives in an hour while Bob drank beer and ate soft pretzels. As you can see I happily accepted my new assignment.
After a grueling 59min59sec my quota was somehow met. Here are some pictures of all the knives i was forced to sell.
(Apologies for the glare in the pics)
The boss counting up the profits.
After a lunch consisting of beer foam and pretzel salt I was given the opportunity to buy the leftovers for double the price plus a $50 beer and pretzel fee on each item. After handing over the contents of my wallet and my car keys I was given a brown paper bag with this inside.
All kidding aside I had a great time hanging out with my friend Bob. Seeing all those lovely knives is a real sensory overload. Sitting here now looking at the pics I see several knives that were missed. Probably for the better. The part about emptying my wallet is actually true.
