I picked up a small 2008 mammoth annual today and it has beautiful cream colored ivory. I love the cream color verses white, but any mammoth is good no matter what it looks like.
Aye, that's it right there. I think that is just about the best knife I can see someone owning out side of a hand made knife. (I only say "just about" because it's a small ) A superb score indeed.
I appreciate everybody taking the time to post. Now some sad news I was talking to the folks at the factory today and they are no longer accepting any new mammoth orders. After they complete their current orders which will take around six month there will be no more new mammoth. She said they are just having a hard time buying any mammoth that looks good.
I remember the MI annuals from 2008. Natural inlay materials are just like fine wine, and 2008 was an extraordinary year for inner-cut mammoth ivory. Congrats on a very nice piece!
Seems to be a trend. Not sure what's going on in the mammoth market but it recently took a custom maker awhile to pick out some for a folder for me. I've yet to see it, but I'm hoping it's good stuff
To those with mammoth bark/ivory CRK's hold on to them! Oh, and I'm so jealous it hurts!
