So every arrival of a FB is exciting and I have been very impressed each and every time I have opened up that USPS box and unwrapped a new knife, but today in particular blew me away. Enter the Runt.

I thought I knew what I was expecting. An awesome knife...of course, it's a FB. But having never seen one, I was especially excited to get the package this week and see what all the rage was. I knew it would be cool, but I would have never expected it to be this cool. I just can't get over how blown away I am to actually see this little guy in person. Rock solid, perfect grip for my hands, nicely contoured, sweet blade shape, somehow smaller than what I was expecting, but I think that is what makes it so much cooler. It is definitely different (read:way better) than what I was expecting, which impresses me.

Sorry, I am sure there have been plenty of past runt rants.

Quick perspective pic. Will hopefully get it sheathed and take some better pics next week.

Very cool runt! A friend of mine has a knife that size that he made. He uses it everyday for all kinds of things including lots of bushcrafting. Every time I buy a knife I think of his little knife and how much he uses that thing. There is a lot that can be done with a knife like that runt and it is easy to carry. I love the blued blade on that one! Congrats!

Thanks guys! Yes, the blued blade is super cool and I love the subtle grippiness of the handle. This little guy will be going with me everywhere, no doubt about that.

That bluing is badass! Niiiice score.

Very cool. I'm not sure I realized the runt was that small either. It is definitely one of those blades that has that "sexy" quality Andy talks about.

Nice runt! How do you like the blue blade?

I received a blued kephart in the mail today. I really like the blue blade. It gives it a tactical flavor, almost.

Do you think the blue blade is food safe?

I'll ask the guys in the shop about the blued blades being food safe. That's a good question.

That runt is so cool! One of my favorites from that batch. Congrats. I think we can all relate with your reaction to opening the Fiddleback packages when they arrive!

Whoa:

These blued models should be their own "sub-company"

Wow!!! That is one bad ass pair of fiddlebacks!! You could do just about anything with those two blades. There was a matching bushfinger two weeks ago if I remember right in case you want to find the middle road.

The "wiped" bluing pattern is fantastic on this knives! I love the shiny cutting edge contrasted to the dark blade! Congratulations to all the lucky owners of these Blue Backs!

Good. I can feel your anger

Hahahahaha. That's a good one. Congrats on your catch.

These pictures don't show how dark the bluing really is. Mine is a rich dark charcoal color. I also like how there is no spalting and the grind is continuous from the bevel to the spine and at 1/8" it will be a slicer for sure.
