todays Fatwood haul

I had a nice fatwood haul too! I found out that a local hardware chain that I go to all the time anyway sells it for 3.98 per 4 pounds! :D

I know, I know, it isn't quite the same thing. :)

I live in south jersey, which absolutely, completely, TOTALLY SUCKS! for firearms laws, being hassled when outdoors and generally trying to be one with nature,

BUT

Every time I go into the pine barrens, I could pick up a 10 lb chunk of premium fatwood. No kidding.

The stuff is all over the place. And SOAKED with resin.

Nice haul for you though, loks like good stuff.
Carl-

Hey, What exit off the Parkway would you recommend I start the hunt?
- Thanks!

Exit 52 if you are coming from N Jersey, exit 50 if you are coming from the south.

Head to Batsto visitor center. Just past the entrance there is a fire tower. You will be on a paved road called Washington pike. Just take the first large Fire road on the left (Quaker Bridge road). Take that in a few miles and take any of the side trails and you will find plenty. Really, you can't go wrong down there. Just take a pack and take ANY dirt road down there and do a little woods time. You wil find plenty.

Be careful, it is a pretty vast area and it all looks the same. Easy to get turned around in there.

A bit too cold for me this weekend, but I am out there a lot.

Thank you. When the weather warms up a bit, I'll head down there.

This a few of the lighter knot stumps on my property. One thing you will never have a problem finding in Mississippi is "lighter"! Nice pics to Brothers!
