Recently, we had a thread here talking about lever actions that reminded me how much I loved my old Marlins. I had given all of my Marlins, a .22, a 336 30-30, and a 450, to my father when I moved away from Memphis.

I had Springfield Armory v-16 Longslide .45 Super that I rarely shoot sitting next to another one that looked just like it in the gun safe. (come on... who didn't want to be The Shadow when they were a kid? Hardballers are hard to find and Springfield Longslides are just as good.)

Anyways, I decided to take it to the gunshow today and get some fun western style stuff. I ended up finding a guy at a table that really wanted my .45 so he traded me a brand spankin' new Marlin 336C 30-30 and a Heritage Rough Rider .22/.22 Mag ( I know they're on the cheap side, but I got it for a fun camping plinker beater). He made out a little better value wise, but I never shoot that .45 and I had another one so it was like I didn't even own it. The new ones will get some use.

On a side note, there was a guy there in the full cowboy getup that looked awesome. I would never go anywhere in full old west gunfighter gear, but I'm glad there are people that do. Plus the guy had a couple of gorgeous custom knives hanging off of him that looked like they set him back a pretty penny or two. Maybe a pretty dime or even quarter.

Trading a firearm you'll never use for one (or two) that you will use is a fine trade in my book. .30-30 and .22 rimfire are two of my favorites too. I say ya gone good.

You guys would have LYAO if you had seen my wife when I came home. Most regular chicks would have been like, "oh...more guns. Great. Put them up and take out the trash." NOT MINE! She snatched the 30-30 out of my hands and said, "I hope you weren't already attached to this one." as she was cocking the lever and looking down the sights at everything in our house. lol

Sounds like you got a good deal on your trade.

It wasn't bad. Like I said, he made out better financially, but I made out better getting stuff I'll use. Like trading a fancy zippo with no fluid for a pack of bic lighters.
