Figured I'd haul the forge out for a few hours seeings as it stopped raining for a bit and cut up a bit of old rebar I found out in the woods, started hammering and this happened. Ugly as sin little skinner, got a bit of charm to it but still ugly. Gonna go for probably a scandi grind on it.

Not that ugly. Perhaps less refined but much potential. 1000x better than a piece of plain ole rebar for sure.

Ugly is good! Nice shape to it:thumbup: I like the curl on the handle. Very useful to be able to add control with the little finger. Nice anvil too!

It works pretty well seeings as the forge is bubba'd together off bits and pieces of scrap (break drums, tube steel, old wood stove blower etc) and the steel is mostly scrap rebar, leaf springs etc.

I wish I was able to make serving better lol. Honing it on a stone ATM, she can slash paper good but I can't shave with it yet. Might go squirrel hunting tomorrow and if I don't royally bjork that up I might even be able to try this little monster out.

Heated it to ~1500 degrees and quenched the edge, let the heat sink back into the blade from the spine to temper it. No hamon though, got's myself a bit too pieced-together forge for that.

Looks pretty darn good to me bro. I would take a hand made knife like that over any production blade being offered online. Good works man... Seriously cool stuff

Just got done taking it to the stone after establishing the primary bevel. I'm missing a chunk of my finger but at least I know it's sharp!

Whatt is that, some kind of a secret ritual, blood needs to be shed and the like?

That's just semantics. Have a picture of my second project of the day: Finishing a broken-back styled sax I started a bit ago. Got my magical pine resin glue fixing the bone handle to the tang as we speak.

Late night update with a photo of the big ugly next to lil' ugly. Ignore the grind marks , they're going byebye tomorrow.

Are barren feet a requirement today? Did Ndoghouse start a trend, a secret society or something?

As I was saying, I admire your skill :), just make sure this second one doesn't bite you as well, might go deeper :D.
