my son CYPRESS and i, went for a walk in the state park across the street... we grabbed our dog TIMBER and packed our lunches for a little picnic...
we opted to have lunch next to the river... the river is called the san lorenzo and it runs through the valley that we live in.... during the winter, this thing gets moving pretty fast... there is some spots that get up to class 4 rapids.. the kayakers love it..

we're in this park almost everyday....

Great Pics Mike! looks like some great father-son time.

Might that be Henry Cowell if I remember correctly?

Looks like the weathers getting good down there!

Great day Mike....

hatchet-

nice pics.

if i am remember correctly, it looks like your son got a hair cut recently...

nice area, nice knife, nice outdoors mates.

is that stick contraption for catching the fish or for cooking them over a fire?

You're a good Dad Mike!

That's what my Dad used to do with us. Take us out in the woods and let us play.

When we were kids my dad would take my brother and I hiking and take our friends too. That's when we were too young to go ourselves. Lotta evenings he'd take us and our pals swimmin at the lake.

A friend, really more my brothers childhood friend every now and then drops by, usually in the summer when he's out dirt bike riding.

Anyway we were reminiscing about the good old days and he said

" You know, you have a good Dad. Remember how he'd take us all swimming, and hiking up to the Devils Tea Table (a cool rock formation in the woods in my hometown)??? I think all of us turned out as good as we did because of him"

I thought that was a pretty high compliment coming from somebody that wasn't even his kid. I told my Dad about it too.

One day somebody is gonna be saying that same thing about you!!:cool:

looks like a great day Mike, how old is cypress? looks like he needs a knife dad all thoise sticks just ready to whittle. here in Missouri its still a tad cold and wet, but in a month or two the wife the girl and igo to the creek for the day. Thanks mike for addin to my spring fever..... Pat

Great pics, looks like everyone had a great time except for Timber, he looks really sad !!!

awesome pics dude thanks for sharing,

btw if ya ever come up to bc you can tell your son that theres a mountain named after him : )

cypress mountain is one of the north shore mountains in my area :D

cheers

Love the pics, Mike! Cute kid! Got your wife's genes eh?;):D

Edited to add: I was only joking on the second part. You know, the cliche, like many of the other cliches I tend to nauseatingly repeat...:p

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I can only echo the good things that others have already posted.

Thats awesome Mike! Hannah and I went for a little hike last weekend in a very similar looking area here. The puppy loved the hell out of it.

many thanks for all of the comments folks... i appreciate it...:D it was a good time....

CYPRESS is a born woods runner... he'll be 5 in april... that kid is truly at home in the woods.. he loves it... barefeet and all... :)
i'll probably get him shooting his bow a little more, in the next couple of months or so... he has shot a bit, but is a bit more crazy than my older son...:o a friend of mine, made him a cool litle primitive bow made out of osage....

siguy- that contraption i made out of the willows, is for cooking fish over a fire, though i'm sure it could be used for catching fish too....:)
BTW- we call CYPRESS, CYGUY...
