Time to grind some scales! I'm working on the bottom two today.

Tubes ground over 40, 80, 100 and scotchbrite belts... they need to e smooth on the end for flaring. Then they were flared... Scales ground on the perimeter and cleaned up... time to do further clean up work on the horizontal grinder.

I just used a 1" wide 220 belt to chamfer every corner on the knife. After that I went to the buffer and "melted" down everything in contact with the hand. I do this on pretty much all of my knives at some stage.

Checking the choil for comfort - it feels great! It is mirror polished in that area at this point.

Thanks! I just uploaded more photos. I'm heading down to the shop in a minute to work on them some more. :D

Profiled... that's grey (looks kind of green) burlap handle material with a green glow!

And here's where I'm at now... comfortable scales but I have lots of finishing work to do.

The black lines are wax from the buffer

You rock Sir! I'll be sure to send you something cool. :D

That's Multicam G10 with the Brown side out on the big one...

Kooool stuff Daniel. Thanks for sharing. The milled blade is a beauty for sure.

Much appreciated! I just got in a minute ago from finishing them up, if the lighting is good tomorrow look out for pics!

I tested the big one on paper and it cut a loosely hanging piece. Freakin' scary for a big knife. It isn't as good of a slicer as the Pirate Sword but is not bad for .315". I'd put it up against most any 1/8" knife as a slicer. The tip will do some damage though! fatty tip

I'm coming around to that high saber grind on a modern knife. My friend had me sharpen a Spyderco Military that had a really nice CPM SV30 blade with a faux Scandi grind (That's one continuous grind from spine to edge, eh?) that had a particularly nice feel. First time I've seen that on a fighting-style knife.

Lookin' good!

And I just noticed, that's a hell of a sheet of Damascus you've got there! Damascus deli-slicer blade? :P

Yeah it is almost a full height grind but I leave a bit more meat on the spine and less on the edge...

A true scandi with no secondary is a nasty grind, all edge! I am a big fan. They look easy to do but are tough to get perfect.

That damascus sheet is for some kiridashis! I set up my chop saw today to cut it but need a better blade... look out for some soon!

Thanks! I have these oiled up right now, I should have pics later today.

I'm pretty excited about these, I'm doing everything I can to step things up a notch. Just wait! :D
