today's sakura tour!!

I was going to say they appear to be sycamores, since we have a great abundance of those type trees here on SYCAMORE AVENUE in Red Bank, NJ! Our's have much larger older trunks and bases.

Looks like a thriving economy built around taking pictures of those trees.

T...

I would have never guessed the sycamore and elm were related.
I could see maybe the Maple & sycamore... at least they have a similar leaf structure.

But hey... I know not of these things. :D :p

They do charge admission for blossom season.
But not so much for the money... more for crowd control.
I read that in spring of 2006, over 50,000 people showed up to take in the sights. :D

yes,Sycamores

Thanks! That was my initial thought, but I saw them and got excited, wondering if might have been old specimens of other species other than Sycamore, possibly Stewartia or something else;)

I would love to see some really old Chinese Elm, there are very few over here and you have to know where to find them. Chinese Elm is misunderstood over here, few people realize what a healthy, beautiful tree they are.
KH is spot on with the Redbuds! We've played with Chinese Redbud but we are too far north for them.
Could the yellow ones be Kerria spp.?
