Here is a bit of a mystery. Seller gave no clue as to the pattern number, but it is a Sears Craftsman. We all know Sears didn't make knives so... Schrade? Camillus? Imperial? Boker? Buck? Match it up guys!

Michael

Looks like a Buck even the shield and handle pattern resembles a Buck, not sure which one.

The long nail nick also reminds me of my Buck Cadet.

Looks kinda like an 89ot to me. the serrated blade on the 89 was different from most other serrated blades Ive seen. so Im gonna guess schrade but it does look like a buck also. Joel

I don't think it's a Schrade - Handle rivets are too big, nail nick is way too long, tang on the clip is also too long, and the swedge is too pronounced. Also no Swinden action going on there.

Camillus- many of the same reasons- rivets are too big, nail nick is too long, etc.

I'd lean towards a Buck myself- the clip blade matches perfectly to the 3 series clips (309,301, 303, etc), especially the nick right up to the tang, and the lengthy tang itself. Pivot pins are present, just the bolster shape is different, but that could be another model or SFO spec, or maybe it's not a Buck:o . I'm just not sure what model the serrated blade comes in.

Did you know that Schrade made some of the "3 series" knives for Buck? Correct on the pinned thru bolsters. The difficulty of repair and adjustment was the main reason Buck moved the series production from Schrade's keyhole construction to elsewhere.

Without doing any research I would say that the serrations of the sheepfoot looks very much the "scallop" pattern that Schrade used. Based on that I would have to go with Schrade. But the pin through bolsters makes me think a Camillus Schrade collaboration.

Camillus made the 300 series for Buck after Schrade. It could be a Schrade blade? Perhaps I should ask Tom or Phil Gibbs.

The serrated blade looks like the Camillus blade used on the congress versions. Which is one reason I said Camillus.

Jeez, how hard it is to get to the bottom of who made what when all these companies were in bed with each other swapping DNA like baseball cards! The bolsters were really bugging me so I went and did a little more hunting and found that some of the older sword brand (#78 and 67) knives had very similar blades, along with the 882 and a tortoise shell made for A.G.Russell (very similar knife for that matter). Now finding out that Camillus made the 300 series really puts the icing on the cake. You know, this research has really cut into my knife hunting time:grumpy: :D :D , but it's been a hell of a lot of fun. I'm going to say it's a Camillus made knife Sears model #95418.

Eric

Im gonna say not Schrade.
The serrated blade has fewer serrations than the 89's (I counted!)
Guess Camillus... Just a guess.

I'm changing from Buck to Camillus. The serrated blade looks more like a Camillus I have.

Excellent link there Codger

The seller still hasn't replied with the Sears number. This is the ENDED auction 220122674517. Regardless of the exact I.D. of the manufacturer and pattern, would you say the final auction price was at, below, or above the knife's value? As you will see, it is 3 1/4" closed and has stainless blading.

Absent confirmation of the number by the seller, or input from Mr. Williams or Mr. Gibbs, I am inclined to think it is a Camillus product. This based upon the appearance of the blade shape, nick, kick, pins locations. I've not yet found an illustration of a Camillus stockman with the same serrated sheepsfoot blade, but I've found it in the illustration of the 712S Congress pattern in the Camillus Catalog #3 circa 1992.

Michael, it's model #95418, don't know if those numbers help determine the maker, but something tells me you might have something there to decifer it:cool: :D
