Today's "Stump The Experts" Knife!

Well, normally 550 of something seems like a lot. However, since it's pennies, I'd say there must be 40 other guys traveling with you in a tightly knit group, and flying low enough to kiss treetops.

  :D

Whoops!

Sorry about that (:o) ... I was just making a joke about you "stealing" it like Ali Baba and his 40 thieves...then flying low under the radar on the get away.

Very sorry.

Adios

Pun understood! No harm, no foul! I am in my busiest construction season and my posting is very sporadic. Like most of us here, I often feel like I overpay for a knife. So it is especially pleasing when I find one at what seems like a bargain. Even if the knife is a f..f...ffffolding one. I did make up for my transgression though by picking up another Sears SFO, a Sears Craftsman H-15 variant, "The Camper". I had spotted one well over a year ago with the Schrade Walden tang stamp. This one has the same "Sears Hi-Carbon Tool Steel / The Camper U.S.A." blade etch, but the tang stamp is "Craftsman / U.S.A." Also as you can see, it is a FIXED, RIGID blade! (which everyone knows is more desirable and collectable than the f..f...folding knives, though harder to pocket and EDC.) :p

I did pay two thousand...er... twenty bucks for it though.

Oh... by the way... I sat in court last week with a knife in my pocket. I forgot to take it out. No metal detectors and I wasn't frisked. Whew!:o I also won my case. I was "flying low" then too, but not under the radar. 63 in a 55 zone. No seat belt. No insurance papers. Dismissed.

OK then,
Glad to hear you are still "selling vinyl"...seems like CDs have pretty much taken over. ;)
Anyway, very buen fortuna on the other "thing"...that was amazing.

Nice catch for a double sawbuck...even if it is a FIXED blade...:)
I think this has been my best eSpray catch so far...

...I, of course, don't know the model #...but, I think it's called an UH Vinyl Cutter....$9 shipped, by low flying aircraft.

Not that this is a hard question, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a date for this knife.

What is most unusual about it is that it hasn't been sharpened.
Sorry for the lousy scan, but the blades are bright with very minor pitting. I haven't seen one before that wasn't sharpened to a nub, the shell handle was loose or missing, the celluloid was cut (at least at the edges), or had some major issue with it.

The blade etch is a crown in a diamond, with the text: Diamond Edge 860DE

This knife looks like it just came off a dealer's display card in 19??

Anyone have a good idea of the date?

I will try to post a better pic of the blades later.

Hey Dale,
I believe with the USA down the right, it is mid-50s until mid-80s, IIRC.

Good find!

Bill, I got a new...er... a lost-n-found 897 Premium vinyl cutter out of the seat of my truck today. And carried it in my left pocket to balance the load with my replacement edc 897 vinyl cutter in the right. My wife just came in from the laundry room with the 897 vinyl cutter the replacement knife replaced, so there are three almost every day carry knives on my desk in front of me. Now, if I misplace one a day and work six days a week I need... more knives! Especially at $9 shipped!

Here is all I have on the #95234: 95234 - 3 bl stockman, eagle shield I don't have a good photo of it or a positive I.D.

I don't have enough information to closely date the Imperial Diamond Edge knives. Bill's estimation based upon the stamping sounds about right. Hopefully someone else has something a bit closer from a catalog or other source?

One additional snippet...
It appears as though Imperial didn't acquire the Diamond Edge Trademark from Shapliegh until 1960. So that helps narrow it down a mite further, I'd think.

Michael, if you run out of those vinyl cutters (not bloody likely :D ), let me know and I'll send you this one. It was used, but it is in pretty fine and effective shape.
