Todd, of your knives "similar" to this, some have rear bolsters, others don't.
is this strictly cosmetic (for buyer's personal preference), or do rear bolsters give a structural advantage ? roland

Roland,

The rear bolsters do help protect the handle material, and the single bolster knife helps decrease the weight.
So it could be some what of a personal preference. Hope this helps?
