I'm very deliberate in what knives I purchase. Have made a "gathering" plan and have pretty much stuck to it. Well, one of the knives that I've had on my "want list" ~ a TNT from Tom Mayo.

For the past several years. . .all that I've heard (from the Mayoites) is how great the Mayo is. . . It's TNT this and TNT that. . .

Problem, every time that I've gotten ready to make the leap and get one. . .something else crops up and puts a stop to adding a TNT to the "gathering."

Recently. . .quite a bit of rumbling going on in this forum (again, from the Mayoites) about their TNT's. . .and what Mayo has available to be had. Saw that he's making a new TNT. It's called a APT (Armor Piercing Tip) TNT. Just great. . .not only does he have regular TNT's. . .he's now making APT TNT's !

Any hoo. . . First week of December, got to see a pic of this APT TNT. Rocked me ! Knew immediately that I had to have one of these APT TNT's ASAP ! :D

Threw some electronic junk at Tom. He reciprocated (amazing how this electronic stuff works !). . .

Now. . .I'm the very proud "gatherer" of a Mayo APT TNT (Prototype) in the large variety.

Man, this baby is solid ! The fit and finish is outstanding, blade is nice and thick (just like I like them) and wicked sharp ! ! Balance is excellent ! ! ! Craftsmanship is superb ! ! !:D :D

I'm so damn happy ! :)

Thanks Tom (and the Mayoites) ;)

APT. Is this that new faceted-tip TNT I've seen lately? It looks pretty nice. A good friend of mine got a prototype of one also I think.

After a year of searching for the perfect custom I finally broke down and got a medium from Tom this month:D:D:D

Except for all these holes in it, it's awesome:rolleyes:

Now I'm starting to gaze at the large and wonder if I really need two Sebenza's:p

Thanks guys..........
as my college girl friend always used to say:"Practice makes pervert!"

I will keep practicing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p:):p

"Mayonites"????

I guess I'm one of them (one of many). As Tom puts it "I sweat bullets over each TNT (and any other knife he makes for that matter)". Mayo is, I'm sure just as hard working (if not a little more) than many, many other knifemakers but his DEDICATION and DESIRE put him in a very elite class. I called him after I had played with my TNT (one of the armor-piercing "Prototypes") and told him. I have owned a lot of custom knives from a lot of different knifemakers. I am in no way knocking any of them but as I told Tom "This is a hell of a knife!" Built like a tank and fit and finish are awesome. He has evolved a simple request for a frame lock knife from copfish a few years ago into, IMHO, one of the best made, virtually indestructible knives out there, for any price. Even though he jokes around a lot he ALWAYS has time to answer any stupid question I have ever had about knifemaking techniques (slowly trying to give that a shot).

I have said it sooooooooooo many times before, Mayo is just, one heck of a human being. If only I was on the same island...........:(

Can't go wrong, never, ever say "No Mayo please!"

Thomas:D

It is quite true. Tom is a helluva guy.He makes a superlative folder, for me...the best I've ever owned! Like Hoss, I have owned knives by other makers. None compare.

The TNT is my "Holy Grail" of folders. No doubt about it.

Just the facts...
