Tom Mayo Titanium Frame Lock Folder with Talonite® Blade (large with pictures)

You mentioned that the cutout of the locking bar is on the outside. Why is this so? Would look nicer if it was hidden...

Hugo, since the handle is contoured to thin out at the edges putting the cutout on the inside might have meant cutting away on the edge of the handle as well. By putting the cutout on the outdside Tom kept the full withdth of the lockbar intact at the cutout. I think it looks and works just fine. :)

OK stjames -- Is it to controversial to ask for a comparison between this little gem and a small Sebenza. Would like to know all the relevant stuff -- smoothness, edge holding, feel in hand, etc? Come on, I know you can give us a real one on one comparison.

As an interesting aside.....
I was trying to set up a second email account for my wife on the NEW ROADRAGE we have and now I just have an new Outlook Express....the old one went away......with all my orders, files..........etc etc.
:(:(:(:(

If you have placed an order with me........I dont know what to say except to email me again.
The email here should work fine.....tonite I will try and get one of my computer wizard friends to find all the disappeared files.
Solemnly, Tom :p

I recently added a small TNT to my collection too. Mine has lots of holes. Before it arrived, my small Sebenza was my edc every day for the past year.

The TNT really is in another class. I prefer the action, both opening and disengaging the lock, of the TNT. The contoured handles are more comfortable. For me, the small TNT is a better size for edc in an office setting. The opening hole is much more comfortable than the lugs on the Sebbie. The finish on the frame seems like it's holding up better on the TNT, and to my eye it has a much more pleasing color and texture. The pocket clip is as perfect as I've seen, smooth in and out of the pocket, and it's been better to my pants.

I'm not a particularly heavy cutter -- so I can't offer much in the way of a comparison between blade materials. I prefer the flat grind of the TNT, though, and mine came with a wicked convex edge.

On the other hand, the Sebbie is a great knife too. It cost me 30% less. It has that great bank-vault lock-up -- mine still has the best lock-up I've seen on any knife. And (this is a plus) it's easily replaceable in the event of catastrophe -- just call a dealer and get another tomorrow.

It's been said lots before: it's not really fair to compare production vs. custom - there are so many intangibles...

I will say that my dad, who is a diehard traditional-stag-damascus-gent's knife-type, and who was indifferent to the Sebbie and lots of other customs, is very fond of the TNT and I have to watch him around the knife drawer!

I sold a large Sebenza to finance this puppy and never looked back! Medium TNT # 10.
Believe me James, your new TNT will surprise, astonish, and impress you. Most of all, it will serve you well. :D

Ah, but so it seems. Ok... good enough reason :)

Oops! I just found this thread. Don't come by as much as i did in the past.

As everyone here seems to have discovered now, the TNT is a GREAT knife, and Tom is an even GREATER guy!!

You can't ask for a better combination in a custom folder, great knife AND maker!

For those who feel the personality of the maker has a great deal to do with how you feel about the knife, well... you can see how I feel!

As an aside, Jerry Hossom is one of the few other makers I feel this strongly about. I know this is a TNT thread, but I can't think about makers I really admire without Jerry being there too. I don't think Tom will mind :p, and I hope James does'nt.

Enjoy your knife James, it's a beaut!:)
