tomahawk case or storage?

Getting more and more into hawks, but haven't thought of a good way to store them. With knives I supply a zippered and lined pouch, but what to do about a hawk? A rough forge finished one I wouldn't worry too much about, but what about a nice presentation piece that you don't want banging around in the back of the 4x4?

Any Ideas?

Thanks

I stick smaller ones in a large knife pouch. Ones with larger polls or spikes I wrap with a soft cloth. Making an edge protector in leather keeps accidental cuts down.

Pretty much what I've been doing, just got to thinking "there's got to be a better way". I've been thinking of sewing a slip on pouch out of wool blanket material. I want something that it can be left in without causing rust and cushion from banging around.

Have you considered a modified rifle case? You know, the ones with foam inserts that can be cut to shape for the gun going inside. Actually, if you think about it a bit, you could probably find a good used case for cheap at garage sales or estate sales, and buy the foam rubber at any store that sells camping supplies (look for the large pieces that are used for bedding).

Hadn't thought of that, but would like to keep the bulk down. I'll keep my eyes open and see if I see anything I like. If I wasn't worried about leather causing rust I would probably wrap in deere skin and tie it to give it that "frontier package" look.

Uline sells a rust protectant paper in sheets. A little scissors work, some scotch tape and you would have the rust prevention needed. Then do the deerskin package.

Good idea on the rust protection paper, may go that route.

I remember that set, and maybe if I ever manage a really nice damascus pipe hawk and matching bowie I might go that route.

Yeah, I guess I was going for the James Bond look.

So how about this... they make gun rags for rifles too. I have one with an old WWI rifle.

I have several cap and ball revolvers and Cabela's used to send them to you with a zippered pistol case. The case is the rite shape, just needs to be bigger. Might see how feasible it'd be to have a few cases made.
