I have received a scolarship from the NCCKG for a 3 day class on forgeing tomahawks with Wayne Whitley. I have been making knives for a while but always wanted to make hawks too.
Anything I need to know before I go? Just don't want to look totaly stupid when I get there.

They always reference each other in the class as "Dude".

If I was you I would walk into the class and just start calling everyone "Dude".

You'll look totaly stupid if you don't! :D ;)

Give Tim Ridge at Swamp Fox Knives a call or email. I think he can give you some insights. Like you he makes both Hawks and Knives.

" Dude" I think I would think about that a bit.

Best
Dwight

Dude? how's your forge welding skills? I went to a similar class on hawk making at a small local hammerin recently, man it's alot closer to actual blacksmithing than bladesmithing! (IMHO)

Forge welding is not a problem. I think it will be fun. 3, 8hr days at the anvil might be a little rough. I just got back from 10 days laying on my arse at the beach.
