Post some pics man, are they antiques?
If they are you might want to get a hawk or two from cold steel, and keep those nice, at least until you get fairly good. Hawks have a strange tendancy to hit rocks and other hard things when you are learning to throw them.
Cold steel sells replacement handles too.
