This is a hand forged traditional trade axe/ tomahawk. Its pretty heavy duty, a good user for sure. It was made by using a 1 7/8" wide piece of mild steel for the body and a piece of 1095 steel for the bit in the "wrap & weld" method of construction. The difference in this one is that the piece of 1095 extends all the way back to the eye. A full length bit welded between the mild steel body. It has a forged finish and is forge blackened. The head is 5 1/4" long. The cutting edge is 3 1/4" wide and very sharp! The haft is roughly 19" long, hickory. Burned and stained. The edge protector is a simple construction but very rugged. Held together with copper rivets and is made with 8/9 oz leather. It has a thong hole stamped in the top.
