Well heres a tomahawk forged from a good quaility rasp. The rasp was doubled on itself and then wrapped and forge welded. Edge hardened and tempered. File work on the spine and belly. 3 1/4" wide cutting edge and the head is 5 1/2" long overall..Ash haft, stained and oiled. Sheath made from 9oz leather. We are asking **SOLD** plus $10 shipping for priority/conformation. We take paypal and money orders. Paypal address is phllpwest@bellsouth.net
Like all our hawks if anything ever goes wrong with it we'll make it right. Either by making you another one or giving a refund. Its never happened but we'll stand by it if it does ;)
Thanks

Its about 1095 if I had to guess. The only time we use a rasp for the whole head is when its a good quiality rasp. We test them buy quenching pieces in oil to see if it will harden. If it wont harden in oil we wont use it for the bit. This one was oil quenched..About one inch back from the edge and then tempered.

Thx for explanation.

No problem..Not all farriers rasps are created equal..The good ones are something like 1095 and of course will harden in oil no problem. The cheaper ones like diamond brand only have about 0.30%-0.38% carbon and are often case hardened. You can use these for the body and they work great but dont have enough carbon for a good cutting bit.

payment sent. Every time I come back to look at one of your hawks there sold. I am glad to get this one. thanks. fixing to do some wood chopping, and may be some throwing see if i can stick this hawk.
