Tomar's tweener prices went up...ALOT

So I went to Tomar's Ka-bars to see if he had the tweeners for sale yet and instead the apprx. $44 that they had been listed for since he posted the pics, they now cost $65:eek::confused: I could have sworn they were supposed to be priced less than their larger counterparts, not more? With a bit of searching, you can find a bK2 for $57, and a BK7 for $65 so how can less knife cost more when they're made of the exact same stuff? This erks me cuz I remember thinking how nuts everyone was(yeah, I mean you;)) for buying the FPR models from SMKW for $80 when the standard model would only cost $44 from Tomars if you just waited a couple weeks. It might have even been $42.95, I can't recall the exact price, but for it have what is basically a 50% price increase before its even for sale is pretty weird and IMO messed up. Hopefully the mods will be able to shine some light on this travesty. If I'm remembering correctly it was in an interview with Adam from E2E at Shot show or somewhere like that, where Ethan said the would be priced between a BK11 and a BK2, so what gives?

I don't remember them ever being priced at $44. I thought they were $64 the whole time.

I'm not sure if they did before, but now the brown scales are included too so I wonder if that's what caused the increase. Though $20 for some grivory, or Zytel as they have it listed is a bit high. For that amount you should get a micarta set:rolleyes: In the end I'll buy one...or two anyway cuz they's just so dang perty;)

I thought they were supposed to be mid sixties in the first place, I don't recall a mid 40's price point on them. That would be silly cheap considering the knife and sheath you are getting. 60 bucks for them is still cheap.

I have never seen a price lower than the currently advertised price, which is consistent with what we were told. At no point was anything less than $50 ever bandied about that I know of, and that was coming from people in the know.

I have always heard that street price would be about 65 bucks. MSRP on them was like 105 if I remember correctly.
Worth every penny imho.

I remember tomars always having the 64 price. I think the mid 40's came from a guess a while ago when some were trying to figure a ballpark for it but that was before any official prices were ever mentioned.

The price on Tomar's site has remained the same since they were put on the new items page. I don't think I've ever seen speculations that they'd be below $60, and to be honest, these knives are a steal at $65. Consider the "competition"...ESEE 4, Benchmade Rant / Fixed Grip, BRKT Aurora / Bravo 1, and Spyderco Bushcraft are all similar specs and you could buy 2-3 Beckers for that price. If you're on a tighter budget, grab a Mora.

Definitely not drunk, been sober nearly 4yrs but I'm telling ya, I did a google search for the BK15 and 16 which led me to the Tomar's site and they were both listed at $44.95 or so. This was probably about a month ago, maybe 6 weeks. I sure hope I'm not losing my mind, I gotta be able to count out the $65 for my BK16;)

Sorry brewcitymike but im with the others, I think that's been the price listed the whole time.

The MSRP on them is $107.49, so the street price of $65 sounds right.

Tomars never had them listed at $44 bucks. Don't know where you saw that, but it wasn't Tomars. I remember the day that Tomars put them on the site, I checked, and it was the exact same price it is now. Can't really complain about that price. Demand is high for them, especially for what they are. Ethan talks very highly of them, especially the 16, so of course they're going to sell very well.

I really don't see nothing wrong with paying $65 for them. Each and every Becker you buy will last you your lifetime, and possibly your offspring's as well.

Didn't sound right. I looked at other good suppliers and they charge more than TOMAR'S (of course :p). He's good.

I want my Bk-15!

Tomar's pricing hasn't changed, believe me I've checked every day since it was announced on their 2012 products page.
