ABS Mastersmith PJ Tomes won Most Innovative Folder at Blade 2001 with this pattern.
This model works from a single spring with one locking and one slip joint blade, keeping the knife thin for easy pocketing.
Overall lenght closed is 3 1/8”, with both blades open 6 1/2”, the Lockback master blade is 2 1/4” and the Slipjoint pen blade is 1 1/4”. Nobody does stag like PJ, and this stag is Premium.

The knife comes with a leather slipsheath and begs to be carried. I’ve carried it and the knife will be shipped to you direct from PJ Tomes and should be considered As New.

The price is $700.

Money Order or Check. NO TRADES and NO PAYPAL.

I got a PM requesting some additional info. I guess I should have had the info before I posted, anyway. The blades are Sandvik 12C27. The bolsters, liners and pins are 416 stainless.

There was an article in Blade magazine (Sept. ‘03) ”Knives the Makers Carry”, take a look a what Joe Pardue carries. I don’t think there’s a greater compliment that you can pay to another maker. I know I saw this knife at the NY show that Joe mentions, but I really fell in love with at Blade Show 2001. PJ was very proud of this knife and what fascinated me was the way that other makers studied it. I’m pretty sure that Joe’s father Mel Pardue also has one of these knives.

I received an email the other day regarding the price of this knife.

”I was wondering about the price of the knife, on PJ's site the cost is only $600? “

My reply was.
When I saw PJ at the New York Custom Knife Show, and I told him I had to sell my 109X, he put the price of $700 on it. PJ doesn't update his website himself, he’s not that computer savy. I doubt very much you can get a 109X in premium stag for less than $700 from him. So the price is fair.

The reply I received from PJ was.

Phil,

Your question is a good one, Robert put something on my web site that prices are subject to change without notice, and they have. With the cost of fuel going up almost double I have had to raise my prices. As soon as Robert can find time we will change the prices. I also want to point out that by buying your knife they will not have to wait until I have time to make one like yours.

Take care and all the best, P. J.

So, if anyone has been wondering the same thing I hope this clears it up.
I hate parting with this knife, but I am strongly motivate to sell.

PhilL: I just sold a Tomes trapper, the main reason being my thumbnail was no match for his spring, esp. w/a low mounted and shallow nail nick. I loved that knife and PJ's work, so tell me, how is the spring on this blade?

Thanx,
Mike

Mike, the knife and it's action is perfect. There's no surprise this knife won Most Innovative Folder in 2001, it's a fascinating piece.

I've known PJ for about 7 or 8 years and many times at shows I'll sit and watch his table while he takes a break. I've handled dozens of his folders and can honestly say I've never had a problem with any of his knives. Several of his folders I can open one handed, using just my thumb. Sorry you had a problem with yours.

Please keep in mind the knife is with PJ now for a clean-up. He's not going to let it leave his shop unless it's perfect.

Price dropped to $650...Back up to $675 offer good only until Christmas.
The day after Christmas the price goes back to $700.
