Tommi puukko

That's a horse head Kauhava puukko with resin handle, probably from the 60s.

Anyway, repert here your findings on the Mikkonen when you receive it.

I would definitely buy the Tommi puukko made by Mikko Inkeroinen over the one made by Manun Paja. The workmanhip is decidely better. I have examples of both in my collection and when you compare them side by side, the differences are obvious. They will both cut amd hold up well but Mikko Inkeroinen makes a finer puukko. I understand that he was also just rcently named a Master puukkosepa-one of just a handful throughout Finland.

I have often wanted to buy from Mikko. He seems to have a little more fresh and youthful approach to puukko’s while still having the know how of traditional puukko’s. I would guess that he also could communicate in English.

^ and his knives sell for at least twice as much as the others mentioned in this thread .
I'm happy to read that your side by side comparison, foxdoublegunner, reveals a quality difference.

As is often the case, quality materials and atention to detail cost a bit more. Both are light and handy knives to carry in the field. I am sure that they will hold up well over time but the Mikko Inkeroinen puukko elicits a smile from my otherwise stoic face when I look at it as it is being used. As someone who enjoys well crafted items, I can appreciate the extra effort that goes into transforming a simple everyday tool into something that is worthy of being admired for its well balanced combination of highly figured wood, well finished evenly ground blade and simple well made tuppi of heavy leather.
