tongs!

For years now I've been using 2 pair of long pliers. After doing some youtube watching I decided to try to make some tongs. Funny all the videos I've watched they make tongs while using another pair. I know my first try is very horrid but here they are. Now I at least have a pair to use while making my second pair lol. They actualy work pretty good for as bad as they look.

Look up on YouTube a guy named Brian Brazeal. He is an awesome blacksmith and has some nice tong making vids on utube. I picked up alot of my tong making techniques from him

I'm looking to make my own forging tools this summer, had a few searches and found Mark Aspery. His videos are very clear and take you through step by step so fingers crossed I'll have a set of tongs this good soon.

I made a pair of tongs with some bars of mild steel and a kydex rivet.

Without much forging.

I made a tutorial on european bladeforums, its a really small forum so you shouldnt have trouble finding it.

I really like making my own tools. Made my own tongs, forge, grinder, and oven. I have some store bought tongs, but I'm too careful with them. My shop built tongs get re-forged constantly, depending on what I am making. I keep thinking I will make a really nice pair, but I never do. These get the job done.
