well my boss just brought in a ton of Ti-6Al-4V and he is going to sell it to a scrap recycle place. i jumped in and told him i would put the word out and see if there was an intersits in it. thay range from 1 pound up to a massive 81 pound chunk that makes my heart skip a beat. what im wondering is would people be intersited in this stuff and at what price a pound. let me know asap. there is probley 500 pounds or more of it.

can you get specific thickness?? like 3/16"..,if so i'd be up for some :). $30 per pound is what i find..,hook us up on the deals bro..,you find all the good stuff.

thay are blocks, no weird shapes. like the huge block is like 2.5" thick. there is a 1/2" plate thats like 10"x10". but most would need to be band sawed into strips. im tempted to tell him that i want it all :D but in order for me to do that i would have to have people lined up to take it as i cant fount that kind of money. it would be a lot cheeper than $30 a pound i can tell you that ;)

someone just came in and tried to buy it but i told the boss to hold off and give me some more time

Dam, I just bought four 2"x5"x3/16" chunks off of Shappiro Metal on eBay otherwise I'd go for some!!!

The going auction rate on ebay was around $15/lbs.

I'll buy some, but depends on price and size.

How much the scrap guy buying it at?

Nathan

the scrap guy was trying to pay 2.10 a pound, and i laughed at him and told the boss i could get him more.

im thinking of selling it at 10 a pound if that seams like a fair price. i can cut it into smaller sizes for shipping if needed

Titanium makes good guard, buttcap, liner and bolster material.

It is hard to grind because it 'smears', but cuts well with aggressive files. Titanium finishes can be outstanding if done right. Also, heat blued titanium is stunning with wild color contrasts. Easy to control the heat too.

Bad news... dont expect solder to fix to it and dont rely on glue to hold fast. Perhaps best for take down projects.

I finished a nice 5" bladed curved skinner with thick guard and buttcap. Finished weight was a little over 6 oz.

i think im going to snag that 81 pound block and hang it on my wall just to stare at

it looks to be all thick stuff. i will go through it tomarow and take pictures.

What dose that 1/2" X 10" X 10"plate weight?

I could use some, ideally a 1 1/4 X 1 1/4 bar about a foot long would be perfect for a few fighter-guards!
