Tony Bose Handmade Custom Harness Jack Slipjoint Folding Knife
Tony Bose (RIP) was probably the greatest slipjoint knifemaker of our time - maybe all time. He influenced too many other modern custom slipjoint knifemakers to count. His handmade knives are flawless, and becoming more and more difficult to find, especially since he passed away a year ago. He was inducted into the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame in 2019. As Blade Magazine said, he was "the man perhaps most responsible for the rebirth of the slip joint/pocketknife genre in today’s knives." I had the pleasure of meeting him and purchasing knives from him at a few knife shows. He was kind, generous and utterly unpretentious.
Although Case made some fine collaboration knives with him, this knife should not be confused with those. His handmade knifes, like this one, are in another world. The fit and finish is absolutely amazing. The blade and punch are flush in every position, as one would expect from Tony Bose.
This knife is marked with a "0" which generally indicates a prototype.
This knife has Remington Bone scales and the blade is D2 steel. Bolster is stainless steel.
Closed length is about 3 3/4 inches. Main blade length is about 2 3/4 inches. Punch length is about 2 3/8 inches.
No papers or boxes - but it will come in a small Bill's custom case.
I apologize for the poor pictures. The steel is very reflective and I'm a lousy photographer.
I'm the second owner of this knife. You will be the third. It was sold to me as mint, unused and unsharpened, and it looked and still looks that way to me. It surely hasn't been resharpened. The scales have no cracks. I have never used it to cut anything. I've never carried or sharpened it. Too pretty for me to use - YMMV. I've owned it for many years and other than applying oil and Renwax periodically, it has just sat wrapped in a Shammy inside a Bill's custom case.
