On a seperate note....Jeremy....you have had both....is a SHBM worth the extra money over a NMFBM as a chopper? I think it wise to wait maybe for the Zilla as that won't be cheap....but I am hankering over a SHBM....they have a mystique that draws me....sort of like a Fairbain Sykes did....you just know they will be hard to beat at what they were designed for....
 
A 1/300 shbm with its narrow nose is less chopper no doubt. But I like less chopper and more large knife,, I could filet a fish or chop down a tree with my 2,, you know,, my Busse collection has been wittled down to 2 very nice shbms and a slotted bolt mean street,,
 
Yes...I think I have too many knives...certainly enough to sell and raise funds for a SHBM...so I probably need to give it some thought. Might give my DFLE a fair bit of use as Cobalt said it was the closest thing to a SHBM which was affordable and if it appeals I might splash out on one. My Basic 9 is also a close runner on the same vein....just have to pray I don't loose it or break it....I cannot insure kit items which are mine for more than £500 per item.:(
