If you send me a photo at abguff(at)att.net I can send it off to a few guys I know see if they can help.

But hell yes that is a collectible bike if it is what they told you. But I’m not sure of 1976 vintage, sounds later to me but not too much.

I recall Sean Kelly racing for that team and he was still around in 1992 when I went to the Tour de France; so that team may have been later than 1976; but not by much, maybe 2-4 years.

How many cogs are on the rear hub? What were the tube rims?

Things like that would help date it. By the early 80’s we started to go the six speed freewheel (now 11)

Problem with collectible bikes is that there is really no market for them. So they are hard as hell to find and hard to sell. So if I were looking for a bike like yours even if there are 10,000 of them, there is no way to find them. And if you do have one there is no way to find buyers.

I have one of Greg LeMond’s 1989 Z Team bikes (it was Robert Millar’s) and although it may be worth $6,000 to someone…. Just try to find that someone.

For example (if I didn't have one) I'd pay $2,000 to get a frame like that blue one I posted. But if you were selling, it would be hard to find a buyer that would pay $600. It is just hard to hook up the two ends.

Jeremy.....just to say I love the knife.....I am doing some testing and will do a piece as soon as I can get it all put together.

Tony....if you have a minute....I believe you know a thing or two about old style racing cycles....I have a Colnago Clover Leaf SLX racer with original Campag matching clover leaf Super Record group set....the front chain rings/pedals etc have the clover leaf's cut out on them....I believe it is from 1976 and was one of the Kas Campagnolo Team Bikes...I bought it in/around 1989/90 from Denton Bycles in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK and it was displayed in their shop window on it's own as a set piece....I was told it was "old" then and given the 1976 era....I never checked up on it though...I did'nt know how and back then computers were not at the personal level they are now....so my question is....is this bike worth something as a collectors bike? And how would I establish it's true age? All the bits are still with me....I replaced the white leather saddle for one more comfortable/worn in by me but still have the original....and I changed the tub rims for mavic wire-on's but still have the tub rims...the livery colours have not been painted over and are original.

French style drop outs, they don’t crush the tube around the dropouts.

That damned smooth bolt SHBM...that's the ONLY only one on that table that interest me.....the only one smooth bolt missing from my collection!!!!

DAMN YOU TONY!!!! Would you bring it to Blade so I can hold it?

Is that a Satin Basic 5?

Thanks for the help here Tony....there are 6 cogs on the rear hub...I just went over the bike with a torch and noticed that there is a sticker on the down tube saying "RECORD ORA/ MEXICO/ 1972" and the sticker on the frame says "Columbus" and "Accacio Speciale"....the tub rims are back up in my Aunt's house in the North East so cannot check them....the other bits are here I think such as the original saddle but it could be back there as well.
The bike needs a fair bit of TLC to bring it back to life.....I would like to do this before doing photo's so I may need a few days.....and I want to run a tape down the down tube just to check the frame size....I will come back to you later with pics....many thanks :thumbup:

Yes it is a Satin B-5 :thumbup: AND it was done by Busse.

Ok the problem, well one of a few, with the SHBM is that if I cut you a deal like say I did on that BA-III; and I ever wanted it back I wouldn't want to pay $2,000 more than I sold it for.

So I may as well just keep it.... forever:p

Must be nice to live near the trough... you know how hard it is to get descent knives over here in Europe ?! :(

No, I'm not jealous of your collection AT ALL :D
