Noah,
That young man is very fluid and has great extension on his kicks! I know nothing of points fighting but can't help but notice his hands are held low? Then again, it seems to be working for him.

He is definitely one of our more relaxed fighters, but yes, he does hold his hands low most of the time. We do not advocate keeping them low like that but he and one of our other youth brown belts both drop their hands that way a lot--I think it tends to be because they are faster than just about everyone they spar against and so they get lazy when they do point sparring. The idea of point sparring is to get your strike to tap your opponent before they can tap you and then the referee stops you and awards a point, basically, so there isn't any real danger of being hurt and you just have to be fast. When we do continuous contact sparring they do keep their hands higher until they get tired
