Too Many Knives?

The title is an excerpt from an ancient story. Here is a larger quote to put it context.

“The young warrior made it to the top of the mountain. ‘Master, I have come, bless me.’

The old man turned and looked at him and smiled.

‘Your life will be long and full of love too, many knives will come for you but if you are alert, you will prevail against these enemies. You will be the master now.’

As he made his way down, he thought to himself and questioned how he could love too many knives? He kept saying to himself, 'Too many knives? Too many knives?' ... He was so deep in thought, he was overtaken by his enemies, who, armed with many knives, killed him.”

Keyring knife, pocket knife, multitool, hobby knife, food knife, fixie. Yeah I'm sorted. It's the duplicates that are somewhat redundant. :D

Are they the ones made by Boker? I have two of those and they serve me well. My goal is to scale back until I have just enough folders for those two cases.

Condor makes a Nylon 6 space case as well.

Apache cases from Harbor Freight. When they go on sale it's hard to pass them up! Have one with sharpening equipment and tools, and one full of knives. And 2 small ones I used before getting a bigger one lol
 
I had one knife for years.....a full size Griptilian. Then I found an awesome brick & mortar store close to me, and I went hog wild. I bought a knife a week. Now I have dozens of knives that I never carry, or use. I actually regret buying all those knives. I need to have a garage sale......
 
I used to have A LOT of very high quality knives. Now... I just have three EDC Spyderco Classics, one Benchmade 710 M2 safe queen, one Ontario Rat 3.5 inch fixed blade Carbon steel for the backcountry and Two Leathermans. The Spydercos are PM2 S30V, Sage 2, and Manix 2 S90V CF. That's it and I'm VERY content with my knife... and gun choices!
 
My wife tells me I have too many knives. I never believed her but as I get “old” and realize I can’t even remember them all, I think it might be so.

Then I find one stashed away somewhere and the love/appreciation is rekindled. I do my best to resist buying another but find myself back on Bladeforums seeing new ways to reward myself for working so long and hard.

At least knives are small, always useful and easy to store while enjoying the one in use at the moment.

Watching so many American companies go to crap. Sent me on a knife tool and gun buying binge. The first time I went to replace something and the new one was a piece of crap was a wake up call to me. It also truth be told may have triggered a compulsion.

In any event. I have enough of all three that my kids kids will have enough.

I had to google to see who Henry Hill was. A bad apple for sure, but I'm not sure that his likeness in a meme is going to sully our image. Frankly, I don't think many people care one way or another about 'bushcraft' and knives.

I would notice one missing that I keep on my desk or on a shelf in a book case, otherwise.... I wouldn't miss a knife that was taken for potentially years. Guns are that way with me too.... just more than I want to keep track of.

There always seems to be room for one more regardless.
